Bad and Unlucky Day - (1:37)
My project is a silent film with comedy and slapstick themes, in which my role was to improve myself in making comedic projects since I was always making only Horror/Thriller stories. I did it because I was never making comedy projects and I always wanted to work on something similar to that.

I explored and learned how to make the music fit in the scene. I wanted to explore all of these because the way the music is played in a certain scene affects it too. For example, something falls on a person’s head and the film starts to play the music of a guy who is about to pass out. If something funny is happening, then I need to use a funny sound. The challenge for me was making a storyboard because I was making a comedy storyboard and I never made these stories before.

My main goal was to explore some editing since I always learn more unique skills from every genre and topic. I also improved myself on directing and acting since I was making a funny and goofy film. I made this film funny that way, so people would laugh. It is supposed to have normal and good jokes. This project gave me new experiences because I was able to work on this new genre with no sounds at all (not including music). It gave me an opportunity to think of good and specific music when it comes to making this new type of video and genre.

For my role as a director was to be responsible for my project since everything relied on me and I had to check on the video and the way it’s saved.

I took inspiration from Buster Keaton who is one of the oldest comic actors of all time. He was doing a lot of crazy and dangerous stunts by himself without any stuntmen. I wanted to do the same thing, but I couldn’t repeat some insane stunts. Those stunts were worth it because they looked more realistic and funnier for the audiences. I had some facial expressions in my video like faces of pain, disappointment and sadness. I had many props for the story like lego bricks, spoiled milk etc. These props had many picture angles like with a close shot for the lego brick so they could fit in the picture.

After I finished filming, I started to edit the clips on an editing app called Adobe Premiere Rush. Everything was doing great except for the thing when I make clips faster or slower, my computer starts to make loud sounds because the video was high. Another challenge for me was the title (not the name of the project). I wanted to make the title look like titles from movies of the old era, but I couldn’t find a proper title text or picture for my title. The last problem I had was looking for a safe and free soundtrack without any copyright. I was trying to look for them on many different platforms except for YouTube. I was also using my editing skills to make the clips dark gray. I had to cut my videos a lot, like cut the scenes where I say “Cut” or “Stop”. The targeted runtime was planned to be 1:15-45 minutes, so when I was editing all the clips I realized that all of them are making a 3 minute video, so I had to make all videos in fast motion. I also used fast motion on my clips to make the video look funnier.

I learned how to make a funny video and how much I can get hurt from filming and more. I was very satisfied with making this project because of the fact that I had to make myself get hurt and I was laughing from this. I know it should look painful, but when I was watching myself doing that, me and my parents were laughing a lot. Next time, I will go through the stunts to make myself act more realistic. For example, to act like I do feel pain from hitting a toe by the edge of a wall or spitting hot tea on a cup and feel very hot in my mouth.
