Changing is - (3:26)
In this project I had to make a basic trailer of a movie. The camera is set so the viewers could see it as the point of view of two different people. Most old movies were made in black and white effects, and even sometimes in modern times there are black and white movies, but these effects sometimes are made for different purposes. In my trailer, I had this effect to show different points of view of two different people. To tell the difference, one person’s point of view is black and white color which represents a stalker and the other person has a normal colored point of view which represents a victim.
POV shots are my favorite thing in movies and videos because I always get a feeling like, we are seeing it live and that I am walking with a character and feel the same feeling like them. In my trailer, the POV shot has a clip in which the camera is held in both victim and stalker’s heads. The idea is inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s movie “Rear Window” and the scene from this movie in which the camera was moving that way like there was another person looking at everything. But I thought to make another idea where we are actually watching what the person is doing. I was using the POV shots, which would make most of the audience feel more suspenseful and have a feeling that they’re in the same situation as the characters in the video. It would also let the audience feel what the certain character feels in the moment.
I also used the Black and White effect when it’s showing the scenes of The Stalking Man. I did it this way to make the audience know whose point of view they’re seeing.
Another thing I used was Tracking shot, which was shown in the beginning when the stalking man was looking for the victim and when he was hiding from The Stalking Man. This scene can be used for the audience to get thrilled as they start to have a feeling as if they’re in the same situation as the characters are in.
There was also a Low Angle camera shot. Near the end of the video, there was a scene when the victim fell on ground and The Stalking man found him and was about to attack him. The camera focuses on The Stalking Man in the POV of the victim from a low angle and it was showing how the victim was scared of The Stalking Man.
I think that the video of “The Stalking Man” was way better than the “Monster” video because I improved most details there from the “Monster” project, where I used a perfect soundtrack in the beginning of the video in which I added very thrilling music, meanwhile in the “Monster” project I couldn't add a suitable soundtrack. In the “Monster” project, I also didn’t use the lighting in the rooms or hallways the right way, meanwhile I was filming “The Stalking Man” project late evening when everything was dark. In the “Monster” video, I also mentioned how I had unplanned extras in the video, and now in “The Stalking Man”, I’ve changed that and there were no extras. Another thing I would like to mention is that next time when I’ll be working on editing a video, I need to pick a perfect and suitable soundtrack that fits the scene.
